Most of our channels aren’t concrete-lined, but the 5% that are play a critical role in moving stormwater quickly when it matters most — and we just completed a major maintenance project on one of them in west Houston!
Along Spring Branch Creek in the Buffalo Bayou watershed, between Bracher Street and Pech Road, our maintenance crews repaired cracked concrete, cleared debris and restored drainage openings to help stormwater flow through the channel as designed.
This deferred maintenance project tackles repairs that were previously delayed due to lack of dedicated maintenance funding. It is part of our increased investment in maintenance to preserve and strengthen our flood control infrastructure.
