A drainage improvement has been completed along White Oak Bayou near historic Olivewood Cemetery, where Harris County Flood Control District maintenance crews addressed an area where stormwater had not been draining efficiently.

Located just southwest of Interstate Highway 10 at Studemont Street in Harris County Precinct One, the work included installation of a new drainage pipe that provided a more direct path for rainwater to make its way into White Oak Bayou.

The Flood Control District maintains thousands of miles of bayous and channels throughout Harris County. That work includes identifying drainage issues, repairing infrastructure, and addressing conditions that could affect how the drainage system functions.

Flood control infrastructure requires regular attention to continue functioning as intended. Smaller maintenance projects like this one can address localized drainage problems before they become larger or more costly issues.

This work is part of the Flood Control District’s increased investment in maintenance to preserve and strengthen Harris County’s flood control infrastructure.
