Why are these projects important?
Dinner Creek Stormwater Detention Basin:
Expected to be constructed as a four-compartment wet-bottom stormwater detention basin located at Greenhouse Road and FM 529 on Dinner Creek, a Langham Creek tributary.
West Little York Stormwater Detention Basin:
Expected to be constructed as a three-compartment dry-bottom stormwater detention basin located north of West Little York Road and west of Highway 6 along Langham Creek.
Funding
Dinner Creek Stormwater Detention Basin:
- This project is receiving funding up to $48.9 million through the Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) program, provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and administered by the Texas General Land Office.
- The 2018 Bond Program contributed approximately $2.3 million in funding.
West Little York Stormwater Detention Basin:
- The project will receive up to $6.5 million in state funding administered by the Texas Water Development Board.
- An additional $1.25 million is anticipated from the Environmental Protection Agency for future stormwater quality features with a local match amount of $312,500.
- Another $656,000 from the Flood Control District’s Capital Improvement Program contributed to funding Right-of-Way, Utility Adjustment, Environmental and Design.
- The 2018 Bond Program contributed approximately $500,000 in funding.
Construction expected to begin Q3 2026 (Dinner Creek Stormwater Detention Basin) / Q1 2027 (West Little York Stormwater Detention Basin)
