About this Project
Phase 1 of the Stormwater Detention Basin on South Mayde Creek near the Grand Parkway consists of two wet-bottom compartments designed to provide approximately 161 acre-feet of stormwater storage capacity — roughly the equivalent of 161 football fields covered in one foot of water.
This project is expected to include a third compartment in a future phase.

Funding
- The 2018 Bond Program is expected to contribute approximately $4.8 million toward Phase 1.
- Phase 1 of this project is receiving funding up to $6.8 million through the Community Development Block Grant program, provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and administered by the Texas General Land Office.
- The construction contract for Phase 1 was awarded for $7.5 million.
Project Location
The project is located in west Harris County along South Mayde Creek, with one compartment south of Stockdick School Road and the second compartment located north of Clay Road.

Anticipated Schedule
- Construction Start: Q3 2026
- Construction Completion: Q3 2027
