About this Project
Phase 2 of the Meyergrove Stormwater Detention Basin Project adds a second wet-bottom compartment that is designed to provide approximately 8 acre-feet of additional stormwater storage capacity — that is roughly the equivalent of eight football fields covered in one foot of water. A stormwater detention basin temporarily holds stormwater during heavy rain events to help reduce the risk of flooding in the area.
Phase 1, completed in Q1 2025, constructed a wet-bottom compartment that provides 80 acre-feet of stormwater storage capacity, or approximately 27 million gallons.
Funding
- The 2018 Bond Program contributed $10 million.
- Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher secured nearly $10 million through federal Community Project Funding.
- Construction of Phase 1 cost $6.5 million.
- The construction contract for Phase 2 was awarded for $493,225.
Project Location
The project is located inside Loop 610 between Brays Bayou and North Braeswood Boulevard, just east of Frankway Drive.
