Why is this project important?
- Aims to reduce flood risk by providing stormwater storage capacity to mitigate for future Brookglen subdivision area drainage improvements.
- Features two dry-bottom compartments providing about 1,100 acre-feet of stormwater storage — that’s roughly 358 million gallons.
- Currently accepting bids from qualified contractors.
Funding
- This project is receiving funding up to $53.1 million through the Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) program, provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and administered by the Texas General Land Office.
- The 2018 Bond Program contributed approximately $1.9 million in funding.
- Construction is expected to begin in Q3 2026.
