The Harris County Flood Control District has completed major drainage system repair efforts at three sites in Harris County Precinct 2, supporting continued investment in the maintenance of flood control infrastructure.
The work addressed deferred maintenance needs that were previously delayed because dedicated funding was not available. The completed projects are located in the Halls Bayou and Greens Bayou watersheds.
The three repair sites included:
- Lillja Road (HCFCD Project ID: P138-05-00-X002)
- Repaired erosion and removed 1,224 cubic yards of sediment (enough to fill more than 100 dump trucks) to improve flow and function.
- Sequoia Estates (HCFCD Project ID: P158-00-00-X002)
- Removed the equivalent of about 60 truckloads of sediment, repaired a damaged outfall pipe, and cleared overgrown vegetation that restricted drainage and blocked access between McDermott Dr. and Aldine Bender Rd.
- Gloger Street – (HCFCD Project ID: P118-19-00-X011)
- Repaired erosion to help support overall system performance.
Regular maintenance helps keep drainage infrastructure working as intended and addresses issues before they can become more significant. These repairs are part of the Flood Control District’s increased investment in maintaining and improving the county’s flood resiliency systems.
