About this Project
The Yale Stormwater Detention Basin is now complete! The basin provides approximately 72 acre-feet of stormwater storage capacity, helping manage stormwater during heavy rain events and reduce flood risk in the surrounding area. That is roughly the equivalent of 72 football fields covered in one foot of water.
A stormwater detention basin temporarily holds stormwater during heavy rain events to help reduce the risk of flooding in the area.
Funding
- The construction contract was awarded for $3.4 million.
- The 2018 Bond Program contributed approximately $3.7 million.
Project Location
The project is located near the intersection of West Tidwell Road and Yale Street and provides added stormwater storage capacity within the White Oak Bayou watershed.
Project Schedule
- Construction Start: Q1 2025
- Construction Completion: Q2 2026
