The project has been officially advertised by the Harris County Purchasing Department, which is now accepting bids from qualified contractors.
Before construction can begin, construction companies must submit proposals that outline their approach for the project and how much it will cost. The Flood Control District will review those proposals and select a contractor. Once a contractor is selected and contracts are finalized, construction can begin.
About this Project
Phase 3A of the Lauder Stormwater Detention Basin will remove approximately 342,000 cubic yards of overgrowth and fill material, such as soil and gravel. That’s roughly enough material to fill about 34,200 average-sized dump trucks.
This effort helps prepare the site for a stormwater detention basin that is expected to be constructed as part of a future phase of the project.
Funding
- The 2018 Bond Program is expected to contribute approximately $2.78 million.
- This project is anticipated to receive up to $7.9 million in funding through the Community Development Block Grant program, provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and administered by the Texas General Land Office.

The project is located along the west bank of Greens Bayou near the intersection of Aldine Bender Road and Miranda Street.
