The Harris County Flood Control District is making progress on a series of repairs along Seals Gully near Cypress Forest Park in the Cypress Creek watershed. The work is intended to address active erosion and improve the long-term stability of the channel.
Recent maintenance included stabilizing channel slopes near Ella Boulevard, where erosion had caused a nearby sidewalk to begin sinking. Crews also completed repairs at two additional erosion sites upstream of Louetta Road, preventing further deterioration in those areas.
Additional repairs are planned upstream of Ella Boulevard to stabilize the channel and improve flood resilience for nearby homes and properties. A larger project, scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026, will repair approximately 400 feet of eroded channel just north of Louetta Road.
These improvements reflect the Flood Control District’s broader approach to addressing immediate maintenance needs while advancing long-term solutions that strengthen Harris County’s flood resilience.
