About this Project
The Cypress Creek Channel Rehabilitation and Stormwater Detention Basin, Main Stem, Batch 5 project is comprised of two packages. Batch 5 involves channel rehabilitation to stabilize two segments of the main stem of Cypress Creek and minimize potential erosion from occurring in the future. Two stormwater detention basins will also be constructed.
The two Batch 5 packages are:
- Package 1: Senger Stormwater Detention Basin Phase 1 and Channel Rehabilitation at IH-45
- Package 2: Channel Rehabilitation at Kuykendahl and Cypress Hill Stormwater Detention Basin
Funding
- The 2018 Bond Program is expected to contribute approximately $1.25 million.
- The grant application for this project was approved to receive up to $53.7 million through the Community Development Block Grant – Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) program, provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and administered by the Texas General Land Office.
- Package 1 construction contract was awarded for approximately $25.5 million.
- Package 2 construction contract was awarded for approximately $13.3 million.
The project, which includes two Batch 5 packages, is located south of Cypresswood Drive and north of FM 1960.
Anticipated Schedule

- Construction Start: Q2 2026
- Construction Completion: Q3 2028
Package 2
- Construction Start: Q2 2026
- Construction Completion: Q4 2027
