About this Project
The Dinner Creek Stormwater Detention Basin is designed to provide approximately 854 acre-feet of stormwater storage capacity, helping manage stormwater during heavy rain events and reduce flood risk in the surrounding area. That is roughly the equivalent of 854 football fields covered in one foot of water.
A stormwater detention basin temporarily holds stormwater during heavy rain events to help reduce the risk of flooding in the area.
Funding
- This project is receiving funding through the Community Development Block Grant, provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and administered by the Texas General Land Office.
- The 2018 Bond Program contributed approximately $2.3 million in funding.
- The construction contract was awarded for $53 million.
- The project is located along Dinner Creek, a tributary of Langham Creek, near the intersection of Greenhouse Road and FM 529, and provides added stormwater storage capacity within the Addicks Reservoir watershed.
