About this Project
Phase 1 of the Forest Green Stormwater Detention Basin project is designed to provide approximately 247 acre-feet of stormwater storage capacity — that is roughly the equivalent of 247 football fields covered in one foot of water.
A stormwater detention basin temporarily holds stormwater during heavy rain events to help reduce the risk of flooding in the area.

- The project is expected to receive up to $5 million in construction funding through an EPA State and Tribal Assistance Grant (EPA-STAG), administered through Representative Dan Crenshaw’s office.
- The Forest Green Stormwater Detention Basin construction contract was awarded for approximately $10.5 million.
- The project is located in Huffman in east Harris County.
Anticipated Schedule
