After a brief break from active weather, showers and thunderstorms are expected to return tonight and continue into Wednesday across the Houston region.
A strong weather disturbance moving across Texas from the west is expected to bring a line of showers and thunderstorms into Southeast Texas during the evening and overnight hours. Forecast models still differ on how strong the storms will be by the time they reach the Houston metro area. Some guidance shows the line weakening as it moves east, while other guidance keeps the storms more organized as they move toward the coast.
The severe weather threat is expected to remain on the lower end, but a few storms could produce strong wind gusts. Isolated wind gusts of 50 to 60 mph may be possible, especially if a stronger line of storms holds together overnight.
Heavy rainfall is also likely. Most areas could see 1 to 3 inches of rain, with higher amounts possible where storms slow down or move over the same area.
Residents should stay weather aware tonight into Wednesday morning. Monitor local forecasts, use the Harris County Flood Warning System to track rainfall and channel conditions near you, and avoid driving through flooded roads.
