About this Project
The Taylor Gully Channel Conveyance Improvements and Woodridge Stormwater Detention Basin project, Phase 1, consists of approximately two miles of channel conveyance improvements and a wet-bottom stormwater detention basin that is designed to provide approximately 412 acre-feet of stormwater storage capacity.
That is roughly the equivalent of 412 football fields covered in one foot of water.
Funding
- The 2018 Bond Program is expected to contribute approximately $3.1 million.
- The grant application for this project was approved to receive up to $41.9 million through the Community Development Block Grant – Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) program, provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and administered by the Texas General Land Office.
- The project is receiving $8.35 million in funding from the Environmental Protection Agency and federal Community Project Funding secured by Congressman Dan Crenshaw.
- The project is receiving $10 million in funding from the Texas Water Development Board in partnership with the City of Houston.
- The construction contract was awarded for approximately $29.4 million.
- This project is located in the Kingwood area.
The Flood Control District is coordinating with Montgomery County on the drainage easement needed to support construction access, drainage improvements, and long-term maintenance activities associated with the Woodridge Stormwater Detention Basin project.
Anticipated Schedule
- Construction Start: Q2 2026
- Construction Completion: Q4 2027
