As part of the ongoing Harris County Flood Resilience Plan engagement process, an open house was held July 14 at the Mangum-Howell Community Center, where residents and county partners reviewed proposed strategies and continued discussions about priorities for a more flood-resilient Harris County.
Three members of the Community Flood Resilience Task Force attended the meeting, reflecting the Task Force’s continued involvement in bringing community perspectives into countywide flood resilience planning. Residents had the opportunity to speak directly with project representatives, explore potential strategies, and share concerns based on their own experiences with flooding.
The meeting was the first in a series of four open houses taking place in July designed to build on feedback collected over the past year. That input has helped identify flooding challenges in neighborhoods across Harris County and will continue to guide future resilience actions. Each meeting follows the same drop-in format and includes the same materials, allowing residents to attend the location that is most convenient for them.

Translation services will be available in sign language, Mandarin, Spanish, and Vietnamese. Residents are encouraged to attend, learn more about the proposed flood resilience strategies, and help identify priorities for their communities.
