A channel restoration project is underway along Berry Bayou in the Sims Bayou watershed in southeast Harris County (Project ID: Z100-00-00-X302). This important maintenance effort will restore nearly 1.25 miles of channel between Ahrens Street and Whispering Creek Way in Harris County Precinct 2. The goal is to restore Berry Bayou’s ability to safely carry stormwater while addressing issues with erosion and slope failures.
Harris County Flood Control District crews are repairing eroded and failed side slopes, removing sediment buildup, and replacing failed pipes. This maintenance work will keep the channel near the Meadowcreek subdivision working as designed.

Berry Bayou has historically faced erosion issues and slope failures. Without restoration, these issues can alter the channel’s ability to carry stormwater as designed. Construction is expected to be completed in the fall of 2026.
Residents can support this work by:
- Staying alert to construction activity and obeying posted safety signs.
- Helping keep nearby bayous and channels clear of trash and debris.
The Flood Control District is continuing to make historic progress in flood risk reduction projects and maintenance efforts thanks to voter support and dedicated staff. Stay informed by following us on social media.
